What UK Arrival tests do I need?

When returning to the UK you need to take a PCR test after your arrival so that the government can screen samples for new Covid-19 variants.

On 27th November 2021 the UK government announced that Day 2 lateral flow arrival tests will change to PCR tests. This will impact arrivals from 4am Tuesday 30th November and we have suspended sales of Day 2 lateral flow tests for arrivals on or after this date.

At present if you are fully vaccinated you need:

  1. A "day 2" test, taken on or before the second day after your arrival in the UK. When you've purchased this test you'll receive a booking reference number to put on your PLF as proof of purchase. You can purchase Day 2 PCR tests at www.c19testing.co.uk/day2pcr. After you have ordered, you will be shown your reference number(s) and also receive an email with containing your unique reference number for your PLF. Our Day 2 PCR tests cannot be shipped to Northern Ireland or the Scottish Highlands and Islands at this time.

If you are not fully vaccinated you need:

  1. A pre-departure test taken in your origin country before you depart for the UK. This can be an antigen test.
  2. A "day 2 and day 8" test, taken on or before the second day after your arrival in the UK and on or after the eighth day after your arrival. These must be PCR tests. When you've purchased these PCR tests you'll receive a booking reference number to put on your PLF as proof of purchase. You can purchase "day 2 / day 2 day 8" PCR tests here. A separate order per person is needed for each PCR bundle. Our Day 2 and Day 8 PCR tests cannot be shipped to Northern Ireland or the Scottish Highlands and Islands at this time.

Please see the UK Government website for information about filling in your PLF before arriving in the UK and the tests you need to purchase.
